Internet-CultureBBC Radio 4 DJ Amol Rajan made a real clanger when interviewing Dame Esther Rantzen this morning.
The broadcaster was forced to apologise after a poor choice of words left him flustered – and Dame Esther chuckling awkwardly.
In January 2023, the That’s Life! presenter, 84, announced that she had been diagnosed with lung cancer, which had grown and spread just months later, prompting her to reflect on her mortality.
Today, she joined Amol on the airwaves but suffered some connection issues at the beginning of her call.
‘Dame Esther, good morning,’ Amol began, only to be met with silence.
‘Is Dame Esther Rantzen with us?’, he asked without thinking.

});
‘Yeah, I hope so!’, the journalist then joked in.
‘Oh God,’ Amol laughed, with Dame Esther adding: ‘I’m doing my best!’
‘Dear, dear, dear, dear… that was probably the worst question I’ve ever asked,’ confessed an embarrassed Amol.
‘Please forgive me,’ he begged. ‘I meant is the line working, it clearly very much is. I probably should start by asking how you are.’
It didn’t take long for a clip of the blunder to make its way to social media, with X user sellottie being the first to share it, writing: ‘Absolute howler from Amol Rajan just now to (terminally ill) Esther Rantzen’.
GethynJonesuk declared Amol’s mishap the ‘quote of the day’ as he introduced Dame Esther for a feature discussing assisted dying.
‘Laughing and crying at the same time’, added a_Troglodist, while MAurelius200 expressed sympathy for a ‘mortified’ Amol.
Other listeners went on to praise Dame Esther for how she spoke during the segment, with rogermosey writing: ‘Esther Rantzen’s arguments on assisted dying are moving and powerful, and I hope MPs support them.’
One added that it was ‘heartbreaking’ to hear her ‘beg for basic dignity’ live on air, while Amol’s ‘sensitive’ handling of the subject was also praised.
Dame Esther shared last December that she had joined the Dignitas assisted dying clinic in Switzerland.
Since, the presenter has been incredibly vocal about wanting to change the laws in the UK as, if she were to opt for assisted dying herself, her family could be vulnerable to prosecution should they accompany her to the clinic, facing 14 years in prison.
A petition for a debate on assisted dying backed by the BBC star gained 200,000 signatures and took place in Westminster on April 29.
Ahead of the debate, the Childline founder, who says she is living ‘scan to scan’, told Good Morning Britain that her dog had a ‘better’ death than her beloved family members.
‘We can offer our beloved pets a pain-free death but we can’t offer it to our beloved family,’ Dame Esther said.
Dignitas is a Swiss nonprofit organisation providing physician-assisted suicide to members with terminal illness or severe physical or mental illness, supported by independent Swiss doctors.
The average cost is £10,000, and anyone assisting or accompanying a loved one risks prosecution.
Under the Suicide Act 1961, this is a crime with a maximum sentence of 14 years in England and Wales.
Speaking about joining the Swiss clinic, Dame Esther explained: ‘If I knew it was going to be difficult for my family to witness, I would want to ask for help.’
She continued: ‘If I go to Switzerland, my family can’t come with me for fear of being interrogated by police.’
In February this year, Dame Esther detailed her ideal final moments before she dies and ascends to the ‘pearly gates’ to reunite with her late husband.
During an interview with LBC Radio, she said: ‘I’d like to fly off to Zurich with my nearest and dearest. Have a fantastic dinner the night before.
‘I’d love caviar, if possible, and the fact that it doesn’t always agree with me doesn’t matter, does it?
‘I could even have champagne, which I’m deeply allergic to. Then the next day, go to this rather unappealing place where they do it.
‘Listen to a favourite piece of music, say goodbye to everybody. Tell them to cheer up.’

Internet-CultureKatie Price was showing off her brand new body during her European getaway in Cyprus after recovering from her latest boob job and her sixth facelift.
The former glamour model, 46, ran into trouble earlier this year when she jetted off to Turkey for a £10,000 facelift as she skipped out on her court date relating to her second bankruptcy.
Now, having faced the music in front of a judge at the end of August, the reality star has returned to her holidaying lifestyle with a bang as she arrived in Cyprus with her boyfriend, Married at First Sight star JJ Slater.
She’s staying at the Atlantica Panthea four-star hotel in Ayia Napa which costs just £102 a night for either a twin or double room.
Katie was spotted sunning herself on the beach in a small orange bikini and a pair of sunglasses. The mum-of-five, who at one point was aiming to have the biggest boobs in Britain left little to the imagination.
She left fans divided over her decision to get a 17th touch-up in July to make her boobs smaller after one of them appeared bigger and started drooping.
Meanwhile, the full effect of her facelift (which initially left her swollen and bruised) has concerned others, asking ‘what she had done’ and pointing out that she looks ‘really, really different’ this time around.
At the time experts expressed concern over yet another procedure, with leading plastic surgeon Dr Mark Solomos telling Channel 4’s 10 Years Younger ”that no responsible surgeon would or should perform surgery on her.’
He continued: ‘Certainly if she’s unable to attend court due to her mental health, then that alone is an indicator that she is not fit for surgery.’
Even Katie is worried as she recalled on Greatest Hits Radio that she visited a clairvoyant who told her she would ‘die in her sleep peacefully’, making Katie wonder if that would happen while she was under anesthetic.
She added: ‘That sort of triggered something in my head. And I was like, “Do you know what? Imagine if that is,” because the amount of times I’ve been put to sleep and that’s stuck in my mind.’
Alongside her bodily transformation, Katie has also been navigating a plethora of financial troubles as she currently owes HMRC over £750,000 in tax, leading to her arrest in Heathrow (and subsequent bail) after missing a string of court dates.
She exited her Sussex home, Mycky Mansion, earlier this year and although she refuted the idea that she was evicted, she promptly put it up on sale.
Unfortunately, the £1.5million sale fell through, setting back the I’m A Celeb star – who at one time was worth £45million – in her continued attempts to tackle her financial woes.
And her luck doesn’t seem to be shifting as he ‘adult’ pantomime, Aladdin, was reportedly quietly cancelled after tickets went on sale, leaving fans baffled with no explanation for the sudden axe.
Elsewhere, Katie has faced backlash after purchasing yet another pet – this time a pedigree kitten – despite her poor track record with pet welfare.
In the past six years, she has shared the death of six dogs, a horse, a chameleon and even had to put down a five-month-old kitten the same breed as her new pet.
Thousands have signed a petition and offered £5,000 for her to stop being a pet owner to no avail.

Internet-CultureFrank Skinner has teased a big radio return with his former co-hosts, six months on from when he was axed from Absolute Radio after 15 years on the channel.
The popular comic presented the Saturday breakfast slot The Frank Skinner Show, alongside Emily Dean and Pierre Novellie.
Admitting he did not take the news of his axe ‘well’ at the time, many took to social media in the aftermath to shower him with support, and some accused Absolute Radio of being ‘absurdly ageist’ over the move.
Now the beloved comic and Three Lions hitmaker, 67, has teased a comeback with Emily and Pierre, as he posted a picture of the trio laughing over a coffee together and captioned it: ‘Band getting back together?’
Fans were buzzing at the tease, as Instagram user 1000dragonflys commented: ‘Yes!! Please?! Pretty Please?! Your show/podcast left a hole no one can fill – replaying old ones when I need a fix.’
sammygoliightly said: ‘My Saturday mornings aren’t the same. I refuse to listen to Absolute on a Saturday morning. Come back to us in some way please.’
labrax_survey added: ‘I’ve boycotted Absolute since they canned you mate. What were they thinking?’
The star – having been inducted into the Radio Academy Hall of Fame in December 2015 – said of the axe: ‘I took it well in the way David Tennant took it well as the tenth Doctor when he started to regenerate and said: “I don’t want to go!”‘
Explaining how the conversation went, he said at the time: ‘My manager (called)… you know every year, about this time – we’ve just celebrated our 15th anniversary on the show, so obviously that means the new contract is coming – and every year I do self-deprecating jokes about the fact that we probably won’t get it renewed.’
He continued: ‘Guess what?! Yeah, we didn’t! So we’re not just going now, I’m not going to say bye and that’s the end, we’ve got some notice to serve, but um yeah… that’s it!’
Frank added: ‘We had a good run but I realise that in recent times I am ever more becoming Grandad from The Simpsons, but even so, I’m not going to pretend I took it well. I took it well in that we’ve had 15 years and Absolute have actually been very, very good to us in those 15 years, but I didn’t take it well.’
Paul Sylvester, Absolute Radio’s content director said of the news at the time: ‘Frank has been a huge part of the Absolute Radio story and after 15 years, this is truly the end of an era.
‘We are hugely grateful for the contribution he’s made to both Saturday mornings and our charity comedy nights at the London Palladium.’
Listeners were left angered by the news, with his comedy pal David Baddiel leaping to his defence and saying online: ‘Frank Skinner’s show on Absolute is brilliant and the decision not to renew it can only have been made by an Absolute t**t.’
Frank caught up with Metro in July this year to give his predictions on how England would fare in the Euro 2024 final.
The beloved comedian revealed that his proudest feat isn’t ratio or his football anthem, but his stand-up career.
‘I’m particularly proud that I managed to stay a comedian for so long because it could have been a two year or five year thing,’ he said.
‘I spent the first 30 years of my life drifting around, not knowing what I was going to do, getting drunk, wasting a lot of time.
‘I don’t know how many people actually find a job they love. But if you do, you really want to hold on to it with both hands.’

Garth Brooks denies accusations of rape in a bombshell new lawsuit (Picture: Getty Images) County music star Garth Brooks has said ‘I am not the man they have painted me to be’ after a former employee accused him of sexual assault and battery. The harrowing […]
Internet-CultureCounty music star Garth Brooks has said ‘I am not the man they have painted me to be’ after a former employee accused him of sexual assault and battery.
The harrowing lawsuit was filed under the name of Jane Roe in Los Angeles today and graphically describes instances of rape, battery, and other extremely distressing acts that took place in 2019.
Roe claimed the trauma from the alleged sexual assault became ‘so unbearable’ that she contemplated taking her own life.
Two-time Grammy winner Brooks, 62, has since said the lawsuit is an attempt at extortion for ‘millions of dollars.’
In a statement to the PA, Brooks said: ‘For the last two months, I have been hassled to no end with threats, lies, and tragic tales of what my future would be if I did not write a check for many millions of dollars.
‘It has been like having a loaded gun waved in my face.
‘Hush money, no matter how much or how little, is still hush money. In my mind, that means I am admitting to behaviour I am incapable of – ugly acts no human should ever do to another.’
In the lawsuit, the woman claims she was forced to keep working for Brooks because of financial hardship, which he knew about and allegedly exploited.
Brooks filed an anonymous lawsuit last month in Mississippi in which he asked a judge to stop the publication of ‘false allegations of sexual misconduct’ by the woman, claiming it would ‘irreparably harm (his) reputation, family, career and livelihood.’
In the statement, he added: ‘I want to play music tonight. I want to continue our good deeds going forward. It breaks my heart these wonderful things are in question now.
‘I trust the system, I do not fear the truth, and I am not the man they have painted me to be.’
Lawyers from Wigdor LLP, acting on behalf of the woman, said in a statement to PA: ‘We applaud our client’s courage in moving forward with her complaint against Garth Brooks.
‘The complaint filed today demonstrates that sexual predators exist not only in corporate America, Hollywood and in the rap and rock and roll industries but also in the world of country music.
‘We are confident that Brooks will be held accountable for his actions and his efforts to silence our client through the filing of a preemptive complaint in Mississippi was nothing other than an act of desperation and attempted intimidation.
‘We encourage others who may have been victimised to contact us as no survivor should suffer in silence.’
Roe was first hired to do hair and makeup for Brooks’ wife Trisha Yearwood, 60, in 1999, but began also providing these services for Brooks in 2017.
In one instance detailed in the make-up artist’s suit, she claims Brooks hired her to come to a show with him but booked only one hotel room for both of them. He then refused to provide another when asked.
‘Usually there were others on Brooks’ private jet but this time, Ms. Roe and Brooks were the only two passengers,’ the complaint reads.
‘Once in Los Angeles at the hotel, Ms. Roe could not believe that Brooks had booked a hotel suite with one bedroom and she did not have a separate room,’ it continues.
He then assaulted her in the doorway in a state of undress, dragged her into the room, and dangled her upside down by her ankles before raping her, causing her physical harm.
According to Deadline, the suit reads, in part: ‘This side of Brooks believes he is entitled to sexual gratification when he wants it, and using a female employee to get it, is fair game.’
The severity of the allegations are so extreme, some of the incidents are too sordid ‘to mention here,’ Deadline reports.
In addition to assault and battery, the suit alleges the country star repeatedly exposed himself to Roe, persistently told her about his sexual fantasies, repeatedly groped her when she was trying to do his hair and makeup, stripped off his clothing in front of her on multiple occasions, and sent her sexually explicit text messages.
The complaint also alleges that Brooks persistently spoke to Roe about having a threesome with him and his wife, and Roe believes Yearwood overheard comments of this nature at least once.
Jane Roe’s filing goes on to say: ‘Brooks is desperate to prevent his millions of fans from learning about the horrific things he has said and done to a junior female employee who did nothing to deserve such treatment.
‘But our legal system is not in place to allow wealthy wrongdoers the ability to run work-arounds on sexual assault victims who attempt to hold perpetrators accountable.’
Brooks’ previous lawsuit completely denies the allegations, saying: ‘Defendant is well aware, however, of the substantial, irreparable damage such false allegations would do to Plaintiff’s well-earned reputation as a decent and caring person, along with the unavoidable damage to his family and the irreparable damage to his career and livelihood that would result if she made good on her threat to “publicly file” her fabricated lawsuit.’
Brooks is one of the most successful musicians of all time and the only artist in music history to have released nine albums that were certified Diamond.
Metro has contacted Brooks’ representatives for comment.

Bob Yerkes, renowned Hollywood stunt double, has died (Picture: Beck Starr/FilmMagic) Back to the Future and Star Wars stuntman Bob Yerkes has died at the age of 92, fellow stunt performer Darlene Ava Williams has announced. Taking to social media on October 3, 2024, she […]
Internet-CultureBack to the Future and Star Wars stuntman Bob Yerkes has died at the age of 92, fellow stunt performer Darlene Ava Williams has announced.
Taking to social media on October 3, 2024, she wrote: ‘I am horribly sad to hear that my mentor and stunt coach Bob Yerkes passed away this morning in Northridge, California.’
Born Brayton Walter Yerkes on February 11, 1932, in California, the Hollywood legend started tumbling as a teenager and ran away from home at the age of 15 to join the Clyde Beatty Circus as an acrobat.
He would go on to perform stunts for over 70 years, doubling for stars including Paul Newman, Robert Duval, and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
In Back to the Future, Yerkes doubled for Christopher Lloyd in the epic scene which saw him sliding down a clock tower cable.
Continuing in a touching tribute, Darlene wrote: ‘Bobby opened the door to his home and backyard to everyone that either needed a place to stay or to train for a job.
‘Bobby knew my parents before I was born and knew me as a kid growing up in the circus.
‘At one time, long before me, my dad and Bob performed in a flying trapeze act together in the circus. As a kid I remember visiting his backyard. I remember watching him train celebrities and stunt people.’
She went on to explain how Bob would always think of her when stunt jobs came up, and before she knew it she was a stunt woman.
‘I would not have had a career in stunts without Bob Yerkes,’ she said, adding: ‘I am so thankful that we got to celebrate Bob Yerkes induction into the Circus Ring of Fame this year for Coach of the Year.
‘I am so happy we got to also celebrate his 92nd birthday with him here in Sarasota,’ Darlene said, concluding: ‘There will never be another Bob Yerkes! My heart is broken. I am proud and honoured to have known him. He was a true legend!’
In 1948 Yerkes returned to Los Angeles and began performing stunts, first in the film Julia Misbehaves.
Over the next decade he would flit between circus performances and stunt double work in films, appearing on Ringling in 1957 and 1958.
For over 12 years, Yerkes also taught many celebrities circus acts for the Circus of the Stars TV specials throughout the 70s and 80s, also working as a circus advisor to many films and TV shows, and teaching budding stunt doubles in his kitted-out back yard.
A skilled trapeze aerialist and tightrope walker, Yerkes transferred his acrobatic skills to films including Breakout in 1975, when he fell from a helicopter through a roof as Charles Bronson, and broke two legs.
He also broke legs while working on Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Her Alibi, but aside from these instances, he was relatively unscathed by his dangerous work.
In Star Wars, Yerkes flew as Boba Fett in Return of the Jedi, which was filmed in his backyard where he taught circus and stunts for years to students including Brooke Shields and Todd Bridges.
He doubled as Schwarzenegger in Commando and Eli Wallach in Tough Guys, as he swung from ceilings and was cinematically thrown off trains.
He is survived by his son Mark, who also worked as a stunt performer. He had another son called Gerald, who died while serving in the Vietnam war.
His most recent credits include Killing Hasselhoff in 2017 and Water for Elephants in 2011.
With 88 IMDb credits to his name, Yerkes also assisted with stunts in Angels and Demons, Adaptation, Ferris Kueller’s Day Off, Psycho III and II, Ghostbusters, Poltergeist, and Airport, among many others.
Yerkes was a recipient of the World Acrobatics Society’s Lifetime Achievement Award – Gallery of Acrobatic Legends – and was one of Hollywood’s most revered stunt doubles.

Internet-CultureGoldie Hawn proudly unveiled the secret to her decades-long relationship with Kurt Russell, explaining that ‘good sex’ is key.
The Hollywood legends have been dating since 1983 after reconnecting on the set of Swing Shift – which was released the following year.
They share son Wyatt Russell together, while the Private Benjamin actress, 78, is mom to Oliver and Kate Hudson, and the Overboard star, 73, welcomed son Boston with ex-wife Season Hubley.
Shedding light on their romance in a new interview, she offered up her tips for a long and successful partnership.
‘You have to have good sex,’ she declared. ‘Because sex is something that connects you and creates more belonging. People who have healthy sexual relationships usually last a lot longer. But it’s not just because of the act, it’s because of the warmth and the intimacy that it creates.
‘You have to be nice to each other upon occasion.’
Goldie – who got up close and personal with an alien recently – also stressed the importance of ‘liking the person’ that you are dating and accepting that you won’t both think the same about a lot of things.
‘Most people that have been together for a long time, I think, share one thing in common,’ Kurt continued to E! News.
‘And that is that after that many years together, you will have experienced just about everything there is to experience together and understand all the ups and downs and what it means.
‘I just love the fact that we met and we still doing it. We still like being together.’
Goldie and Kurt first met in 1966 while on the set of The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band, but were married to other people at the time.
They eventually found love nearly two decades later, and have been inseparable ever since.
Although their romance has been going strong for more than 40 years, they have no intension of walking down the aisle anytime soon.
‘I’ve been going with my girl for 40 years. It’s come up in conversation whereas it never used to,’ Kurt told Extra of their future plans. ‘We had both been married, we had both done that.
‘And you know what? We lived our life. We’ve had our family, our family continues to grow. It’s fantastic.’
Goldie shared a similar outlook in a chat with Women’s Day in 2007, adding: ‘I already feel devoted and isn’t that what marriage is supposed to do? So as long as my emotional state is in a state of devotion, honesty, caring and loving, then we’re fine.
‘We have raised our children brilliantly; they are beautiful people.
‘We did a great job there and we didn’t have to get married to do that. I like waking up every day and seeing that he is there and knowing that I have a choice. There is really no reason to marry.’

Internet-CultureRobbie Williams’ wife Ayda Field has shared a ‘shocking and difficult’ update to fans confirming her mother Gwen’s cervical cancer has returned.
The 45-year-old TV personality shared a set of photos of herself, and her family with her 73-year-old mother, who she called her ‘very best friend’, as she undergoes treatment.
The candid post – marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month – continued: ‘What you may not know, is that my best friend is currently fighting for her life.
‘A couple of months ago, my mother, a breast cancer survivor (and thriver) was given the news that her cervical cancer had come back and metastasized.
‘The news has been shocking and difficult for us all to privately process. She’s cried. I’ve cried. We’ve all cried together.
‘There have been many moments of deep sadness. And yet, also moments of profound beauty and joy, in very unexpected ways.
This is a battle. And what my mother has lost in hair and weight, she has more than gained in strength and bravery.
‘I am lucky to have such a warrior mummy showing me the way. And I have deep gratitude, that in this moment right now, she is here to fight another day.’
The screenstar concluded her post by standing in ‘solidarity’ with all those affected by cancer, adding she is ‘ready to fight back with you.’
‘F**k cancer,’ she wrote.
Messages of support have flooded the comments.
Stylist Rebecca Corbin Murray commented: ‘Sending love.’ TV host Gaby Roslin echoed: ‘Sending love and strength.’
Actor Rosie Fortescue wrote: ‘Oh Ayda thinking of you and your Mummy.’
The Breast Cancer Research Foundation said: ‘We know how deeply personal this disease is, and we’re so sorry to hear about your mom’s recurrence.
‘Our hearts go out to both of you during this challenging time. We’re here for you and your family and won’t stop until we put an end to breast cancer.’
‘Wish her fast recovery and sending hugs of best wishes and love,’ @gulhurgel wrote. And @robbie.williams.fan shared: ‘Sending strength to your lioness mother. she can win this. We love Gwen.’
This is not the first time the family has opened up about Gwen’s journey with cancer.
In 2020, Ayda – who has been married to the Take That singer, 50, for 14 years and shares four children – told fans that on top of Parkinson’s and Lupus, Gwen had also been diagnosed with stage 2 cervical cancer, made more difficult by lockdown restrictions.
She underwent ‘chemo and radiation daily as well as surgery’ to target this ‘aggressive tumour’ which had spread ‘outside the cervix’.
Robbie has also had to deal with his father’s deteriorating health after he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, a progressive brain disease that affects nerve cells.
Last year, his 73-year-old father, Pete Conway, was rushed to hospital after breaking a bone in his spine following a nasty fall.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! star James Haskell has thanked fans for support after sharing an ‘ominous’ post from hospital.
The former England rugby player, who appeared on the ITV reality competition in 2019, revealed his ‘arm fell off’ and he needed surgery.
The 39-year-old took to Instagram to show his arm in a sling, writing: ‘Not what I thought I’d be doing this week! But I’m alive, the Op went well. did someone say Rehab? I know a lot about Rehab. Let the journey begin.’
Fans rushed to wish him well and a ‘speedy recovery’, as James later took to social media with an update.
Filming from hospital, he said in one video: ‘I realised I’ve put an ominous post up with just me in a sling.
‘I can’t begin to tell you how f**king stupid it is what’s happened, but essentially on Monday I ripped the bicep tendon off my left arm.
‘It wasn’t even training, it was filming some content stuff, and the first two times it was absolutely fine, third time I changed my grip, and I ripped it off the bone.’
‘I put 109kg through my arm and it just snapped, and the sound of it was horrific,’ he went on.
Thankfully, James’ surgery went well and he’s now waiting for the ‘wound to heal’.
He insisted he still plans on DJing ‘one-handed’, and hopes to be carrying on with his body transformation, ‘albeit on one side’.
The podcast host went on to talk about his plans for recovery, ‘doing everything I can do’, after the tendon was ‘reattached’.
‘We learnt some lessons, certain levels of content are not for a nearly-40-year-old man,’ he said.
‘Stick to DJing, a lot safer,’ he added, thanking fans for their support.
‘I’m not even playing rugby anymore and my arm has fallen off.’
He later shared an update on his way back from hospital, thanking fans again and explaining that he had to miss a DJing gig because his ‘arm had come off’.
‘I’m going to reschedule, I’ll be back there to play,’ he said.
‘My arm’s fallen off! You all know it’s bad,’ he added, reacting to one message from a fan.
This comes a year after James announced his split from Chloe Madeley after five years of marriage.
The couple split in September 2023, just months after the birth of their daughter Bodhi, who they now co-parent.
The former couple had filmed an ITV reality show prior to their split – Chloe Madeley: A Family Affair – and said in a joint statement that they had ‘mutually decided to separate’.
Alongside the statement, James also typed: ‘It’s with a lot of sadness I write this post, but unfortunately, in the world we live in, it has to be done. My priority is my daughter’s and Chloe’s happiness and security. For that reason, I won’t be commenting any further.’

iThe Traitors winner Harry Clark is said be ‘in talks’ with I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! bosses for the upcoming series.
Details about the line-up are still being kept tightly under wraps, though the likes of Tommy Fury after the news of his split from Molly-Mae Hague, and Love Island’s Zara McDermott are already rumoured to be heading into the jungle.
Meanwhile, Phillip Schofield has cleared up any speculation he may also be taking part in the reality competition, saying there’s ‘some channels you won’t work for’ as he made his TV comeback on Channel 5’s Cast Away.
It’s now been said Harry could be swapping the BBC for ITV, after winning £95,000 on Claudia Winkleman’s murder mystery gameshow last year.
An insider said: ‘Harry has had meetings with ITV and is desperate to land a place in the jungle.
‘He previously had meetings with Strictly and didn’t get it, they didn’t think he was a big enough name, so now he has set his sights on heading Down Under.’
They added to The Sun: ‘Harry is really keen to land a big show before the next series of The Traitors comes on, as he worries once there is another winner out there he stands less chance of landing other telly gigs.’
Harry has previously been tipped for I’m A Celebrity, and is dating Anna Maynard, whose brother Jack competed on the series in 2017 but left after social media posts resurfaced.
The army engineer was also rumoured for Strictly alongside his co-star Mollie Pearce, who he duped at the last minute and beat in the BBC competition with some sneaky tactics.
Mollie, 22, has now confirmed she’s signed up to Dancing On Ice, saying: ‘It will be fun, I want to challenge myself, I’m ready for the challenge.’
She’ll be joining Towie legend Ferne McCann, 34, Olympic rower Sir Steve Redgrave, 62, and Coronation Street star Sam Aston, 30.
Metro.co.uk has reached out to ITV for comment.
I’m A Celebrity returns to ITV later this year.

iWith a few months to go until its expected air date, speculation is rife about this year’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here line-up.
The likes of Phillip Schofield, Tommy Fury after the news of his split from Molly-Mae Hague, and Love Island’s Zara McDermott are already rumoured to be joining, and now a huge 00s star is said to be ‘in talks’.
Last year’s series of the ITV reality competition saw Sam Thompson, Fred Sirieix, Tony Bellew and Nigel Farage enter the Australian jungle.
Made in Chelsea star Sam, 31, emerged as the King of the Jungle, putting to bed the 23rd series of the show, which has been on air since December 2023.
With the next series airing in November 2024, this year’s batch of celebrities will be in talks with ITV, signing the dotted line, and packing their bags for the jungle.
Potential contestants include the usual range of reality TV stars, soap actors and politicians. Well, following July 4’s complete Tory wipeout, there’ll be a lot of out-of-work MPs looking to make a quick buck and save face.
Here’s Metro.co.uk’s run-down of potential I’m A Celebrity 2024 campmates.
N-Dubz star Tulisa Contostavlos is reportedly launching her showbiz comeback on I’m A Celebrity.
The former X Factor judge, 36, has left ITV bosses extremely ‘excited’ about the potential signing.
‘Tulisa has been on ITV’s hit list for a while but until now she’s never wanted to consider it,’ a source told The Sun.
‘This year is a decade since she left The X Factor so she felt the time was right to return to the TV spotlight — the amazing reception to the N-Dubz reunion tour really helped build her confidence.’
They claimed that the ‘breadth’ of Tulisa’s career could mean that she’ll appeal to the ‘wide audience’ who tune in to watch the jungle competition.
‘As well as everyone knowing her from The X Factor, her original music fanbase has boomed thanks to the N-Dubz reunion tour,’ the insider went on.
‘TV bosses are particularly excited by the new wealth of fans in the crucial 16 to 24 age range who have discovered Tulisa and the band through TikTok and everyone hopes the deal is signed soon.’
Following the news that Love Island stars Tommy and Molly-Mae have split, the boxer is tipped for an appearance on another ITV programme.
According to the latest odds from Ladbrokes, Tommy is at odds of 4/1 to appear on the next series, with Alex Apati of Ladbrokes saying: ‘Reality TV chiefs will surely be queuing up to snap up Molly-Mae or Tommy following their shock split, and the odds suggest the latter could well be jungle bound later this year.’
Announcing his split from Molly-Mae, Tommy said: ‘I am heartbroken to share that Molly and I have decided to end our relationship.
‘The past five years have led to us having our beautiful baby girl, Bambi and I will be forever thankful to Molly for making me a dad. Bambi is our priority.
‘Please respect our privacy, and our families’ privacy, as we navigate our way through this difficult time.’
She’s rumoured to have split with long-term partner Sam Thompson, who won last year’s I’m A Celebrity – but could she appear in the jungle herself?
Made In Chelsea star and former Strictly contestant Zara McDermott, 27, has previously addressed the possibility of taking to the jungle, saying: ‘Who knows, you never know what’s going to happen,’ she said during an interview on Radio 2.
‘I don’t know if I could follow his crowning. How could I ever follow that?’ she admitted, talking about Sam’s win.
Coronation Street icon Helen Worth, 73, is going to have a lot of time on her hands soon, with her exit as Gail Platt imminent.
After five decades as a Weatherfield resident, bookmakers have been calculating the odds of Helen’s next move – suggesting that a stint on either Strictly or I’m a Celeb is in the actress’s future.
The Sun has reported that the odds of her jetting off to Australia are at 10/1, with Strictly and Celebrity Big Brother also being considered.
Baby Reindeer creator and star Richard Gadd, 35, has been tipped to make the move into reality TV, with OLBH reporting odds of 6/1 of an appearance on this year’s I’m A Celebrity or Strictly.
However, an expert has warned against Richard taking to the jungle, saying: ‘Gadd and Netflix are now mired in legal red tape over Baby Reindeer and its depiction of being a true story.
‘I’m a Celebrity always involves controversial, off-the-cuff remarks and no matter how much he tries, Gadd won’t be able to dodge questions from his celebrity jungle-mates,’ Andy Barr, co-founder and head of digital PR agency 10 Yetis told Metro.co.uk.
Strictly pro Giovanni Pernice, 33, has had a tough year since the controversy of 2023’s Strictly. Crashing out of the competition following partner Amanda Abbington’s decision to pull out, he suddenly found himself facing a PR storm amid claims of a Strictly feud and accusations of bullying.
If reports are to be believed, ITV are determined to score Giovanni for this year’s I’m A Celeb.
A source told The Sun: ‘Giovanni would be prefect for the jungle. ITV bosses have wanted him for years and now he is finally free. Everyone is really eager to get him on board – he really would be ideal for those jungle showers.’
Rumours have been spiralling that the disgraced This Morning presenter, 62, is planning his TV comeback.
Suggestions that Phillip Schofield could appear in this year’s I’m A Celebrity emerged as he was seen laughing and joking while out for dinner with host Dec Donnelly earlier this year.
A source told OK! of Phillip’s potential plans, saying: ‘Phillip is not the same since being away from TV. It’s what he’s done all his life and all he’s ever wanted to do. There is talk that Ant and Dec are keen to get him on I’m A Celeb.’
This election night’s bloodbath saw 11 former cabinet members lose their seats, including Jacob Rees-Mogg, former Prime Minister Liz Truss and future leadership contender Penny Mordaunt.
Given the success of both Nigel Farage and Matt Hancock on the show – not to mention the attention-grabbing headlines it scored for ITV – many now-displaced politicians may be making a beeline for the jungle.
Among these names is Suella Braverman, who somehow managed to keep her seat, but was already rumoured to be eyeing a move to Australia as early as March this year. Makes a change from looking up flights to Rwanda, at least.
Good Morning Britain weatherman Alex Beresford was a rumoured name for last year’s jungle line up, before appearing on the BBC’s Celebrity Race Across the World instead.
However, he has expressed an interest in heading into camp, telling The Mirror: ‘Out of all the shows I would love to do, I would love to do the jungle.’
Will Alex get his wish this year?
